Maca is the common name for Lepidium meyenii, a plant from the family of broccoli. "Maca root" refers to the roots of the plant that looks like a turnip. Maca is divided into categories based on the color of the root, which can be red, black, pink or yellow. Maca has historically grown in Peru.It has traditionally been used as an aphrodisiac appeal. It has been used all over the world and affects both sexes. Does not work through hormones do not increase testosterone or estrogen. It is known that supplements appeal to men to experience increased sperm production.
It also seems to have a strong appeal to the suppressor of prostate hypertrophy, with similar to finasteride, and synthetic drugs for the treatment of prostate hypertrophy power. Preliminary research also indicates that the appeal can protect the brain from damage, and improve bone health, and even improve cognitive ability in healthy people.
There is a need for more research to identify the main mechanism for appeal.
Since more than a search for appeal comes from Peru, the research replicated in other regions go a long way toward confirming the effects of Maca. Maca exports are important for the economy of Peru. Sometimes new evidence can be manipulated on exports, as in the case of policosanol. There are, however, no evidence to suggest manipulation of studies on appeal.

Lepidium meyenii, Maca root, ginseng Peru
Things to consider
Maca root can increase sexual desire, but otherwise non-catalyzed
Maca root is not bland taste, taste very dirt like grass. And generally better I liked capsules of powder for starters
Taking (the recommended dose, active and quantities, and other details)
The standard dose is Maca 1,500-3,000mg.
Maca can be supplemented by eating Maca root, or by an extract of maca. It must be aqueous extracts or ethyl acetate basis.
Maca must be taken daily, with food.
Traditionally, it is treated as a product appeal to food rather than supplements. Animal studies using 1,000-2,200mg body / kg doses of Maca weight, resulting in:
10.9-24g station appeal to someone £ 150
14.5-32g appeal to station someone £ 200
18.1-40g appeal to station someone £ 250

[2] Maca has traditionally been used in folk medicine to the vitality and fertility in the Andes in Peru and animals used in both sexes, and, [2] [3] and sometimes referred to as ginseng Peru even though they do not bear any resemblance to the ginseng plant Panax his family. [2] is grown exclusively in the Andean region of Peru in a high level of 4000-4500m above sea level [4] as required by the terms of its growth wind and radiation cold sun and enough [2] may be more growth rates were favorable for growth, also noted one study faster at low temperatures. [5] It is interesting that it seems appeal can reverse the decline in sperm that occur within this range of height (in rats). [6]
Maca is grown exclusively at the height of Peru area, where they were used historically as an agent enhance fertility. It belongs to a family of similar plants such as broccoli, cabbage and other vegetables
When used as a food product, and hypocotyls puffy (similar protrusions stem) drying and then eaten in more than 20 grams per day from levels without side effects reported associated with this method, and when dry can be stored for years hypocotyls. [2] Maca is often boiled and drunk as juice because of the storage of dry hypocotyls be very difficult to bite. Modern use capsules Maca tends to be.
Nutritionally, dried Maca (plant, not the sequel) is the following: [2] [4]
The water content of 10.4% unless otherwise dried [4]
10.2 to 16% protein by weight, with little content of Sarkozyn (0.70mg / 100G)
59% carbohydrates
2.2% of the fat (40.1% of which 52.7% saturated and unsaturated)
Fiber 8.5%
Minerals, calcium (150 mg / 100 g), copper (5.9mg / 100G) and zinc (3.8 mg / 100 g), and potassium (2050mg / 100G) and total ash is 4.6% [4]
Vitamins such as vitamin C (8 mg / 100 g), riboflavin (650 micrograms / 100G), and thiamine (280mcg / 100G) [4]
Phenolic compounds (about 5.5-7.6mg / g, and the content of the poor) [7]
53 essential oils (flavors), with more being phenyl acetonitrile to 85.9% [8]
Maca tends to be of hypocotyls (bumps that resemble turnips) as part of the plant is consumed often, and thus are mostly carbohydrates and fiber texture with steel
There are more than 13 different types of known Maca (each referred to as Lepidium meyenii) that occurs differently depending on the variety, ranging from white to black. The most common is yellow is composed of 47.8% and is more desirable commercially. [9] These are called variables for hypocotyls coloring are clearly different. [2] it referred to these variables sometimes known as environmental models of appeal. [10]
In comparative studies, black Maca seems to be a yellow or red nerves [9] the greatest benefit on sperm production. [11] Red Maca, but not black or yellow, you can reduce the size of the prostate. [12]
Different types '' of the appeal on the basis of color hypotocyl similar for the most part, but some of the characteristics that may be more specialized.
